Shopping in Singapore need not burn a hole in your pocket

You heard right!

Shopping in Singapore can still be an enjoyable affair even if you have a limited amount of money. You just need to know where to go to get the best value-for-money products.

Shopping in Singapore for Clothes

As the saying goes "Clothes maketh the man", so if you must have that shirt or shoes to assert your personality, then you shouldn’t compromise on style. But this does not mean having to blow a budget that may leave you scarred for life. All it takes is a bit of investigation on where to find affordable clothes that you like.

One place you can look - factory outlets. From clothes to shoes, these are great places to spend without feeling too guilty. Why buy one shirt at a regular shop when you can get two for the price of one at these factory outlets? The good news is, you don’ have to look around because we’ve done that already. Below is a list of factory outlets that you can check out. Happy shopping!

Anchorpoint in Alexandra is a factory outlet haven. There are at least 5 factory outlets of various brands there. It’s located at 370 Alexandra Road.

If you don’t mind getting designer-inspired stuff, you may want to check out Metamorphosis.

I was pleasantly surprised to find some great gems there. This Chanel-inspired handbag (or so I was told by my friends) didn’t cost me more than $35.

And check out these gorgeous rings - the rings cost between S$3 and S$6! There are many other brand-inspired products you can find at Metamorphosis - you just got to look.

Shopping in Singapore - wait for sales!

A smart way of spending is to wait for sales. There’s almost a sale every few months. In case you have not noticed, there’s always a pre and a post sale - for example, pre-Chinese New Year, post-Chinese New Year, pre and post Christmas sales , you get the idea. This is not counting the Great Singapore Sale in July. So keep your moolah for the sales - unless of course you spy a must-have blouse or pair of shoes!

Shopping in Singapore - warehouse sales!

Going for warehouse sales is also a great way of stretching your dollar! These sales may be held at the brand’s warehouse or at a private area. Designer wear and branded cosmetics and products can be bought at a fraction of their retail prices. For example, look what I got at a recent Luxasia warehouse sale! This gorgeous Guerlain lipgloss was going for $10 while this Stila glitter, at $15 only!

I don’t know how to use it or when to use it, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get a Stila cosmetic at such a steal! Also $15, a Gueirlan compact powder which is priced at $65 outside.

So you see, shopping in Singapore can be fun when you know where to go!
